The Smile Therapist is available to help you look after your child's dental health. Having worked with children for over 20years and being a big kid herself, Naomi is super passionate about providing preventive dental care to children that is fun, interactive and as stress free as we can make it. She also has a passion for looking after special-needs kids, especially Autistic children, as well as kids who are nervous or anxious. Naomi strives to make their dental experiences as positive and pleasant as possible. While our Child Dental Service was developed for 0-10year olds, we are happy to consider older children on special request.
But they are just baby teeth! Baby teeth are very important for the health & development of children including their speech, ability to eat and chew foods, willingness to smile and socially interact, and baby teeth help to maintain the space for adult teeth.

INITIAL EXAMINATION/CHECK-UP $120 (for 1 child, additional children $100 per child) The first appointment will take a bit longer as we need to ask you lots of questions and we are sure you will have lots of questions for us too! Included in our appointment time will be a thorough assessment of the mouth and structures including teeth, gums, lips, cheeks, tongue, jaw. We will also screen your childs dental growth and development, and provide toothbrushing demonstration and instruction. We can review your childs nutrition for any concerns that may contribute to dental disease. Appointment time: up to 60-90 min
FOLLOW UP EXAMINATION/CHECK-UP $90 per child This appointment is usually 3-9 months after the initial examination/check up, and is shorter as we are generally following up if there are any changes since the initial examination. Appointment time: up to 45min NUTRITION $NIL We can review your childs nutrition for any concerns that may contribute to dental disease. Appointment time: included with FULL EXAMINATION
TOOTHBRUSHING & FLOSSING DEMONSTRATION (during home visit) $NIL Effective brushing & flossing techniques are essential to maintain good dental health in between dental check ups. We can help by demonstrating the best technique to suit your needs. We can also advise the most appropriate type of dental products to suit your needs. Appointment time: included with FULL EXAMINATION
CLEAN up to max $90 This appointment includes the removal of plaque, and/or calculus (tartar). We may use a disclosing solution that highlights the plaque and calculus. Appointment time: up to 45 min
REMINERALISATION up to max $50 Some teeth at a higher risk of developing tooth decay may benefit from an application of fluoride or another remineralising agent. We will discuss your child's suitability and the options available. Appointment time: included with CLEAN
SPECIAL NEEDS (no extra charge) Children with special needs are a particular interest to Naomi, who has had many years experience working with Autistic patients and patients with other special needs. Please reach out so we can discuss the best ways to help your child feel relaxed with their dental visit.
NERVOUS/ANXOUS (no extra charge) We aim to make the dental experience as fun, interactive and stress free as possible! This may mean we take things slowly and go at the child's pace. Sometimes it can take a few visits before a highly nervous patient will let me look at their teeth, but each visit is an achievement towards progress. To support your child's progress please read through our APPOINTMENT section. To help desensitise your child its ideal to book your child in for their first dental check up as early at 1year old, and then regular checkups after that, much like a hairdresser appointment treat it casually and just something we all do.
REFERRALS (no extra charge) Our assessments may include gathering information on the child's general growth and development as this may help in providing appropriate referral pathways to other health care professionals such as; orthodontists, speech pathologists, ears nose throat specialists, and pediatric dentists.
