Our story

​With over 20years experience working as a Dental Therapist & Dental Hygienist, 'The Smile Therapist' was founded by Naomi Wilson to provide online & mobile dental services.
​
Initially founded to provide a fun & friendly dental experience for special needs, Autistic, nervous, anxious and young children, we extended our services to include mobile teeth whitening, online dental health coaching, and dental health education workshops!

What is a Dental Therapist and Dental Hygienist? 

A Dental Therapist is a qualified and registered dental health care professional who provides assessments, examinations, diagnosis, education, prevention & treatment of dental diseases in children such as cleaning, fillings and extraction of teeth as needed.  
A Dental Hygienist is a qualified and registered dental health care professional who provides assessments, examinations, diagnosis, education, prevention & treatment of periodontal (gum) disease in all age groups, such as cleaning, polishing and teeth whitening.  

Any treatment beyond the scope of practice is referred to the appropriate dental health care professional.

Naomi Wilson - founder  

Naomi graduated with a Diploma in Dental Therapy from the Westmead College of Dental Therapy in 2000, and with a Bachelor of Oral Health from The University of Newcastle in 2014. Naomi has worked in public & private dental services in Sydney and in rural and regional NSW. Throughout her career Naomi’s passion has been helping patients with their dental care needs including: 
  • developing at home dental hygiene routines 
  • making dental visits fun for kids 
  • enable children to have a positive dental experience whether its their first or tenth visit  
  • to prevent dental disease through good dental care at home 
  • review nutrition for any concerns that may contribute to dental disease (particular interest in plant based nutrition) 
  • support nervous, anxious & Autistic children to become familiar with dental care 
  • achieving a bright smile with professional teeth whitening                                                                                                                                                                       ​
